Kasturi mango, also known as Mangga Kasturi, is a rare, small mango variety native to Kalimantan (Borneo), Indonesia.
It has dark purple to blackish skin when ripe — which might sometimes appear bluish in certain lighting or photos, but it is not actually blue.
The flesh is orange-yellow, aromatic, and has a rich, sweet taste.
It’s classified as extinct in the wild, and only cultivated in limited areas.
The "blue mango" myth:
Viral photos or internet myths sometimes call Kasturi a "blue mango," but this is misleading or digitally altered.
There is no naturally blue-fleshed mango known to science.
If you're looking for visually unusual mangoes, varieties like Japanese purple mangoes, Alphonso (bright golden), or Nam Dok Mai (pale yellow) are real — but blue mangoes remain a myth.
