Apple Tree From Seed.
Parents are Pink Lady.
Appearance: Apple seedlings emerge with small, green, oval-shaped cotyledons (first leaves), followed by toothed, true leaves. They can look similar to other Rosaceae family seedlings at first.
Growth Rate: Moderate; may take 5–10 years to bear fruit when grown from seed.
Genetic Variation: Apple seedlings rarely grow true to the parent fruit — they often produce different, sometimes inferior apples.
Light: Needs full sun (at least 6–8 hours daily) for healthy growth.
Soil: Prefers well-draining, loamy soil rich in organic matter.
pH around 6.0–6.5 is ideal.
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water more deeply and less frequently as the tree establishes.
Fertilizer: Use a balanced, slow-release fertilizer once seedlings have several true leaves. Avoid over-fertilizing young plants.
Temperature: Apples need a winter chill (dormancy) to fruit; exact chill hours vary by variety. Protect young seedlings from frost until hardened. (These are hardened but all apple tree's will face some sort of dormancy during winter)
Pest & Disease Prevention: Watch for aphids, fungal leaf spots, and apple scab. Keep good air circulation and avoid wetting leaves during watering.
